Special Initiatives

A. Emergency Medical Services
Up until a while back there were few emergency ambulance services existing in Rajasthan, but IHIF is working to change this. IHIF launched the first critical trauma ambulances in Jodhpur at Rajdadisa Hospital on 12th January, 2009. Two ambulances, each costing around Rupees 12-14 lakh or about £ 17000, were launched that day. Also, IHIF launched a neuro-rehab ambulance in conjunction with the 1st International Workshop on ‘Neuro-Rehabilitation after Traumatic Brain Injury’. This event was held in August, 2009 in New Delhi.

B. Neuro-Trauma Support Groups
A Neuro-Trauma Support Group is to be established for victims of head and spine injuries and their families. These groups would provide counseling and information for patients and patients’ families.

C. Ongoing Research into aids for neurologically disabled patients and intracranial pressure monitoring systems with IIT (Delhi).

D. Critical Trauma Ambulance: The IHIF launched the first of its kind critical trauma ambulances in Jodhpur at Rajdadisa Hospital on 12th January, 2009. Two ambulances were launched that day. Each of these costs around Rupees 12-14 lakh or about £ 17000 each.

E. Neuro Rehabilitation Ambulance: The IHIF launched a neuro rehab ambulance on the occasion of 1st International Workshop on ‘Neuro Rehabilitation after traumatic Brain Injury’ held in August, 2009 in New Delhi.

F. Neuro-Rehabilitation Units
It is the goal of IHIF to establish a fully equipped neuro-rehabilitation facility at Rajdadisa Hospital, Jodhpur. This facility would be followed by rehabilitation centers in satellite towns and in hospitals where the infrastructure to deal with such eventualities is not there.
